UPSC CSE 2024 Prelims Exam: The eagerly anticipated notification for the UPSC Civil Services Examination (CSE) 2024 has been officially released, signalling the commencement of a demanding selection process for aspirants aspiring to embark on a career in India's esteemed civil services. Widely regarded as one of the most challenging exams in the nation, this examination paves the way for various administrative services, including the prestigious Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Police Service (IPS), and Indian Foreign Service (IFS), among others.

Key Dates and Essential Information:

The UPSC CSE 2024 notification furnishes vital information for prospective candidates. The registration period commences on February 14 and extends until March 5, 2024, until 6:00 PM. Applicants are permitted to make alterations to their applications from March 6 to March 12, 2024.

This year, the commission aims to fill around 1056 vacancies, with 40 reserved for Persons with Benchmark Disability Category. This includes 06 vacancies for candidates with blindness and low vision, 12 for those with deafness and hard of hearing, 09 for locomotor disabilities such as cerebral palsy, leprosy cured, dwarfism, acid attack victims, and muscular dystrophy, and 13 for multiple disabilities encompassing clauses (a) to (c), including deaf-blindness.

Qualifications and Age Limit:

Candidates seeking eligibility for UPSC CSE 2024 must possess a bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognized university. As per the notification, individuals between the ages of 21 and 32 are eligible to apply, with age relaxations provided for candidates from reserved categories. This inclusivity aims to ensure equitable opportunities for individuals from diverse backgrounds to pursue civil services.

Number of Attempts:

General category candidates are allowed up to six attempts, while SC/ST candidates face no restrictions. OBC candidates can attempt the exam up to nine times, and Persons with Disabilities (PWD) have the same limit for General, EWS, and OBC categories. PWD candidates from SC/ST categories have unlimited attempts. These provisions consider the varied circumstances and challenges encountered by aspirants, striving to establish a fair playing field.

Application Process:

The application process for UPSC CSE 2024 is entirely online, emphasizing the significance of digitalization in contemporary administrative procedures. Candidates must apply through the official website, upsconline.nic.in. The application fee is set at Rs. 100 for general category and OBC candidates, with exemptions for female candidates and those from SC, ST, and Persons with Benchmark Disability categories.
