LAC: India-China to Resume Diplomatic Talks Over Ladakh Standoff

23 Jun, 2021 14:02 IST|Sakshi Post

According to the latest reports, India and China will most likely hold another talk this week. They will discuss the matter of eastern Ladakh and the troops.

The main aim of the Working Mechanism for Consultation and Coordination on India-China Border Affairs (WMCC) is to try and ease the problems and tension between Indian and Chinese military troops in eastern Ladakh. As per the sources, this discussion will take place on June 24. The last talk happened on March 12.

After the diplomatic dialogue, a Corps Commander-level talk will take place. The problem has been going on since May, last year. The military troops of both countries have been at loggerheads and in multiple instances, they were locked in a military clash. After many diplomatic discussions and military talks, both troops withdrew from the North and South banks of Pangong Lake.

But even after that their withdrawal from the Pangong Lake, the standoff continued at different friction points in eastern Ladakh. Talks will be held to withdraw the military from other points as well. The focus is mainly on Hot Springs, Gogra and Depsang. There are more than 50,000 to 60,000 troops aligned in the Line of Actual Control in the sensitive sector.

The 11th military talk did not go too well as China was a bit rigid in their ideas. That is why there was no change in the troops and disengagement process. Nevertheless, the Indian Army is prepared for any situation, said Army Chief Gen MM Naravane. The de-escalation will only happen after all the troops have disengaged from all friction points.

Even though India is ready with forces in case anything goes wrong and in case China ends up making a move, but they are still sceptical. Earlier it was confirmed that another. It is a concerning situation as earlier PLA had established their troop shelter, helipad, depots and other important equipment near the LAC. It was a temporary setup that has now become their permanent position. The Indian Army and IAF are prepared in case anything happens.
