17 Aug, 2021 10:47 IST|Sakshi Post

An Indian Air Force C-17 fighter jet took off from Kabul, the capital of Afghanistan, to fly to Delhi from Kabul Airport a short while ago. The aircraft will arrive in Delhi in an hour's time.

A total of 120 Indian officers are on board the plane. Many of them are employees of the Indian Embassy there. They all arrived at the Kabul airport on Monday evening to return home. They have not been able to move since the Taliban takeover.

The Indian Air Force is said to have talked to the US forces to evacuate stranded Indians, who heaved a sigh of relief after they were airlifted from the violence stricken Kabul. Attempts are being made to bring back Indians safely. Indian Foreign Ministry has set up a special Afghanistan helpline.

Through this, those in Afghanistan can get any help to reach back India. Not only that, the State Department has also given a mobile number: Call this number 919717785379. You could also write to the email address MEAHelpdeskIndia@gmail.com seeking help. The Indian Embassy in Kabul said, Indians stranded in Afghanistan can seek help via this Id or number.

Despite the chaos at Kabul Airport, Indians are happy that the Air India flight has taken off.
