DGCA Extends Ban On Scheduled International Flights Till October 31

Due to the COVID pandemic situation in the country Director General of Civil Aviation extended the suspension on scheduled international commercial passenger flights till October 31, 2021. The restriction will not be applied to international all-cargo and flights approved by DGCA said a circular by the office of DGCA. The Indian regulatory body said that international scheduled flights may be allowed on selected routes by the competent authority on a case-by-case basis.

The notice says " The competent authority has extended the validity of the circular issued on the topic stated above regarding Scheduled International commercial passenger services to/from India until 2359 hours IST on October 31, 2021, in a partial revision of the circular dated 26-06-2020. This limitation does not apply to international all-cargo operations or flights that have been explicitly permitted by the DGCA."

The DGCA extended the suspension of scheduled foreign commercial passenger flights till September 30th last month.  Meanwhile, the number of new Covid-19 cases in the country fell below 20,000 (18,795) today, bringing India's caseload to 3,36,97,581, while the number of active cases fell to 2,92,206, the lowest in 192 days.

According to the Union health ministry, as many as 18,795 new Covid-19 cases were reported in 24 hours, while the death toll from the viral disease rose to 4,47,373 with 179 additional fatalities, the lowest in 193 days.
