Man Spends 2.5 Hours In Box Of Ice To Break Own Record
An Austrian man broke his own record on Saturday for the longest full-body contact with ice cubes. Inside a custom made glass box filled with icecubes, Josef Koeberl managed to stay for 2 hours, 30 minutes, and 57 seconds. The glass box was packed with icecubes up to his shoulders. Over 200 kilograms of icecubes were needed to fill up the box after Koeberl walked inside wearing nothing but swim trunks.
Koeberl hopes to break his own record yet another time in Los Angeles, next year. His team said that Koeberl's personal record of exposing the body to the ice for as long as possible is also the existing world record.
Koeberl said that he fights the pain by focussing on positive emotions. He told reporters that, "I’m fighting the pain by visualizing and drawing on positive emotions so I can dampen this wave of pain. That way I can endure.”
After helpers took him out of the ice box he said that the sun felt "very fantastic" on his back.
