The Telangana government is now planning on providing the free vaccine for all its citizens. Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao is discussing the same. He has asked for all the details regarding age, demographics, etc.

It was announced that from May 1^st, everyone above the age of 18 will get vaccinated. The central government made this announcement earlier and shared that states can directly procure vaccine doses from manufacturers. Vaccine manufacturers have been asked to supply 50 per cent of their stock to the Centre, and split the rest 50 per cent between state governments and the open market.

For Telangana to execute the free vaccination plan, it needs a budget of Rs 1,600 crore. The decision will be announced after some discussion as the CM is now looking into certain important information like age, demographics, vaccine, source and other details. It is important to consider everything before making a decision.

During this phase, the government will focus on citizens between 18 to 45 age. But they also have to keep in mind people above 45 who still didn’t get vaccinated. This could either be the first shot or the pending second dose.

An earlier similar decision was taken by the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister. CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Friday announced that the State government shall provide free COVID-19 vaccine for all those who are in the age group of 18-45 years.

Taking part in a high-level review meeting on containing Covid and vaccination, the Chief Minister directed the officials to place orders for vaccines accordingly, ensuring to meet the requirement of vaccinating around 2,04,70,364 people across the State.

Earlier, the Chief Minister has spoken to Barath Biotech MD Krishna Ella and Hetero Drugs MD B. Parthasarathi Reddy over the phone and sought to supply COVID Vaccine doses and Remedsiver injections as per the requirement of the state.
