Hyderabad: Acting Chief Justice MS Ramachandra Rao and Justice T Vinod Kumar of the Telangana High Court asked the Agriculture and Cooperation (Marketing) Department to provide data about the transfer of the Gaddiannaram fruit market on Friday. The Bench was considering a case brought by the Wholesale Fruit Commission Agents Association and others, which challenged a single judge's decision to uphold the government's decision to relocate the fruit market to Koheda village.

In 1986, the government relocated the fruit market from Jambagh to Gaddiannaram to alleviate traffic congestion. The Association claimed that they were being illegally relocated to Koheda, where there was no infrastructure. The government is attempting to shift the market illegally under the pretext of the epidemic, claiming that building a multi-speciality hospital is necessary. The government, on the other hand, stated that temporary market arrangements had been created at the HMDA complex Batasingaram until the infrastructure at Koheda is completed. The hearing has been rescheduled for September 29.
