Polls Predict TRS Edge In Graduate MLC Polls

12 Mar, 2021 11:25 IST|Sakshi Post

Hyderabad: With the March 14 (Sunday) polling date for Graduate MLC elections nearing, the ruling TRS party is all-out to turn the tide in its favor.

The party is trying to win over state government employees and graduates two days ahead of polling. They constitute a major chunk of voters and are enthused by governmental steps like the new PRC, higher fitment, and hike in retirement age, and the issuing of job vacancy notifications to fill 50,000 posts after the upcoming MLC elections.

Although the MLC elections turned out to be a fight between TRS and the rest, pollsters see a clear edge for the ruling party after Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao decided to directly strategize the polls for the first time.

Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao’s strategy and Minister K.T. Rama Rao’s effective execution have helped the ruling TRS party turn tables on the Opposition in the high octane campaign for Graduate MLC polls that ends on Friday, March 12.

TRS leaders and cadre believe Chandrasekhar Rao’s strategy in garnering the support of government employees and graduates boosted the party's winning chances. As the election-day approaches, these segments have openly announced they would rally behind the TRS.

TRS has emerged stronger for MLC polls. The Chief Minister stepped in with his shrewd political strategies and working president KT Rama Rao executed these strategies effectively at the ground level with the active involvement of ministers, TRS leaders, and the cadre.

The situation turned in favor of TRS after the CM succeeded in bringing various employees and student unions to the party's fold with assurances on 29 percent PRC fitment, a three-year retirement age hike, and filling of 50,000 government job vacancies soon after the MLC polls.

Chandrasekhar Rao’s strategy to support the anti-privatization agitation linked to the Vizag Steel Plant was well-received by the Seemandhra voters in Hyderabad and Rangareddy districts who are emotionally attached to the VSP.
