Driving Without Helmet, Signal Jumping, Overspeeding Rampant Among Hyderabad Motorists

HYDERABAD: There are still some commuters who refuse to wear helmets and seat belts while driving, despite the fact that the police and numerous media outlets have repeatedly called for them to wear them. Rachakonda traffic police took out a drive against sich violaters and booked 26,035 people last week who were driving without helmets and seat belts. On the other hand, the traffic cops booked cases against several people for overspeeding, signal jumping, driving without licenses, and other traffic violations.

RachakondaTraffic DCP D Srinivas, said that " During the last week, the traffic police booked 44,024 cases for Motor Vehicle Act offences, and a fine of Rs 1.38 crore was collected. In addition, traffic rule awareness campaigns are being carried out in order to reduce violations. "

During the last week, the traffic police arrested 89 people during drunken driving checks at the Malkajgiri, Uppal, Vanasthalipuram, Kushaiguda, Yadadri, Choutuppal, and Bhongir police station limits. 

During the same time period, eight people were killed in 54 traffic accidents in Rachakonda for various reasons, and 50 people were injured. According to the road accident data analysis, it was found that the accidents occurred due to human errors and road engineering defects. 

As per the police statement, investigations of the road accidents revealed driver irresponsibility, overspeeding, driving under the influence of alcohol, and self-skidding as the major cause for these incidents.

The traffic engineering cell, along with officials from traffic police, law and order police, and other departments involved, examined 11 fatal accident sites. The official stated that "On their advice, rectification works of various black spots are being taken up."
