HYDERABAD: Looks like, Tollywood actor and Jana Sena leader Naga Babu Konidela is in the mood to court controversies these days. Within 48 hours of creating ripples with a controversial tweet on Nathuram Godse and his killing of Mahatma Gandhi, he came up with another salvo on Saturday. Interestingly, his latest tweet is also centered around Mahatma Gandhi.

The actor commented that he would like Indians to remember other great freedom fighters and not just Mahatma. Naga Babu in fact went one step further and said that he would like to see the faces of other iconic leaders on the currency notes.

In a series of tweets, Nagababu said, "I wish to see Subhash Chandra Bose, (B R) Ambedkar, Bhagat Singh, Chandrashekhar Azad, Lal Bahadur Shastri, PV Narasimha Rao, APJ Adbul Kalam, (Veer) Savarkar and (Atal Bihari) Vajpayee on currency notes. I don't want people to forget the great nation-builders.”

He also wrote, "If Mahatma Gandhi had been alive, he would have wanted all the freedom fighters, who were part of building the nation, to be honoured this way. Except their names, many of us don't remember the faces of these great men who sacrificed their lives for the country. It is the responsibility of the governments to let the future generations know them by having their faces on currency notes."

One has to wait and see how the Netizens will react to Naga Babu’s latest thoughts. The actor has already stirred the pot enough with his recent controversial tweet on Nathuram Godse’s killing of Mahatma Gandhi. He praised Godse as a true patriot while feeling that the world needs to know Nathuram’s version also on the killing of Mahatma Gandhi.

His tweet evoked sharp and angry reactions from the Netizens and activists of the Congress party. A police complaint was lodged against the actor at the Osmania University police station. TPCC leader Manavatha Roy, while lodging the complaint, demanded strong action against Naga Babu for insulting Mahatma Gandhi with his tweets.

Seeing the furious responses from all quarters, Naga Babu later quickly tried to douse the fire. In an apparent damage-control measure, he appealed to his critics to understand him better and that he has immense respect for Mahatma Gandhi.
