HYDERABAD: King of Tollywood, Akkineni Nagarjuna took to his Twitter and tweeted that May 22nd and May 23rd are very special dates for him. He added that he can't forget May 22nd and May 23rd as these two dates mark the release dates of two unforgettable classic movies Annamayya and Manam respectively. Manam and Annamayya are two super hits in the career of Nagarjuna. Not only the fans of the Akkineni family but also the movie buffs would love to watch the film.
Annamaya is one of the cult classics in the career of Nagarjuna. A devotional film, directed by K. Raghavendra Rao and is bankrolled by V.Doraswamy Raju under the VMC Productions banner. The film minted gold at the box office and the story is all about the life of the 15th-century composer, Annamacharya. The movie created a history in the world of Telugu cinema. Suman, Mohan Babu, Ramya Krishna, Kasthuri, Bhanupriya played the prominent characters in the movie. The film was released on 22nd May, 1997. The movie, Manam is very special to the Akkineni family. The film features Nageswara Rao, Nagarjuna and Naga Chaitanya. Filmmaker Vikram Kumar narrated the story in a very intriguing manner. He weaved the story by using the elements like destiny, re-incarnation, and didn't give any miss to humour. Nagarjuna, Naga Chaitanya, Nageswara Rao, Samantha and Shriya acted in the lead roles. Can anyone forget the episodes between Nag, Chay and ANR in the flick? Obviously, a big No. Akhil Akkineni played a cameo in the film and it also added to the movie. Manam is the last movie of the legendary actor late ANR. The flick has hit the theatres on 23rd May, 2014. Manam was screened at the 45th International Film Festival of India and the celluloid won numerous awards.
