BTS Permission To Dance Replaces Butter Atop BB Hot 100 Chart

20 Jul, 2021 11:26 IST|Sakshi Post

For the past seven weeks, BTS Butter has been reigning high on the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, but this week the song was finally moved. Yes, it is time for Butter to give the chance to someone else. The surprise is that the song was replaced by another BTS song. Well, “What Yoongi wants, Yoongi gets”, right? As he said, the baton was passed from Butter to now “Permission to Dance”.

If BTS wants something or has a goal set, ARMYs will ensure they work hard and help them achieve it. Butter was released back in May and debuted on No.1 position on the BB Hot 100 chart. Since then it has been irreplaceable and been charting on top for the past seven weeks. Seeing this Suga joked around saying it would be cool if Butter was only replaced by another one of BTS’ songs and that is what has happened. Once again Minstradamus' prophecy has come true!

As Permission to Dance debuts at No.1 position on the BB100 chart, it is another historical day for BTS. Butter was replaced by PTD, which makes BTS only the second band since the Beatles to replace their own song on the chart.

With this, the band now has 5 songs that made it to the No.1 position out of which 4 were straight debuts. Earlier it was Dynamite and Life Goes On that debuted on No.1. Their third number one came with Jawsh 685 and Jason Derulo's 'Savage Love - Laxed – Siren Beat' Feat BTS. (This was not a direct debut). Then it was Butter with 7 weeks on top and now Permission to Dance.

Currently, PTD is on No.1 and Butter on 7. Check out the ranking here:

BTS released PTD in collaboration with Ed Sheeran. The song was a gift to their fans ARMY on their birthday (July 9). It was also a message to the world, a song to distract humanity and make them happy in this Covid time.

The boys were truly happy and shared their gratitude. Members RM, Suga, Jin and Jimin posted on Weverse with Jimin's post being the most heartfelt one as he did a full bow to thank their fans.
