Six people were killed on the spot and four others seriously injured after a Tata Innova rammed into a borewell vehicle on the Hyderabad-Bijapur road in the wee hours on Wednesday.
The incident took place on the Kandawada-Malkapur outskirts of Chevella when the victims were heading from Tadbun in Bahadurpura to Gurmathkal in Karnataka, police said. The victims were Asif Khan (50), Sania (18), Nazia Begum (45), Arshiya (28), Nazia Banu (36), Arshiya Banu (6), and Khalid (43). The injured were Kareena Begum, Ayyum Khan, Nissar Baig, and Anwar Khan.
According to the Chevella police, all the members of the same family were traveling to Karnataka in the wee hours. At Kanadawada, the driver who was driving fast lost control of the vehicle at a curve and the driver did not notice the oncoming borewell drilling truck. Then the car crashed into the borewell vehicle. Six members died on the spot and four were injured, said police.
The injured were shifted to a nearby private hospital and later to Hyderabad and those who escaped with minor injuries are being treated at the Chevella government hospital. The Chevella police has booked a case and shifted the bodies to the hospital for post-mortem.
