The 38th match of the Indian Premier League was between Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders. It was played at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi on Sunday. In the match, CSK defeated KKR by 2 wickets.
It was a real close match with chances seeming dim for CSK until Ravindra Jadeja came to bat. In the penultimate over Jadeja managed to score 22 runs which gave the team better chances at winning. CSK was chasing a target of 172 runs. Jadeja gave the team 22 runs in 8 balls. Apart from him, it was Faf du Plessis – 44 runs, Ruturaj Gaikwad – 40 runs, and Moeen Ali – 32 runs that sealed the deal for Super Kings. On the bowling side, Shardul Thakur was in the forefront with 2/20.
The Knight Riders managed 171/6 in 20 overs. Their top scorers were Rahul Tripathi (45), Nitish Rana (37 not out), and Dinesh Karthik (26 runs).
On the KKR side, bowler Sunil Narine almost sealed their victory by taking wickets of Sam Curran and Ravindra Jadeja. It was all depending on the last ball now. In the end, Deepak Chahar scored 1 run from the 1 remaining ball and got the win for CSK.
With this win, CSK is back in the lead on the point table while KKR is in the fourth position.
