Tirupati: The famous Lord Venkateswara temple at Tirumala will remain closed for nearly 12 hours on October 25 and November 8 due to solar and lunar eclipses occurring in the respective months.

Alongwith Lord Venkateswara temple, nearly 60 other temples run by the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) across the country will close down for pilgrim worship. The devotees will not be able to perform puja at these temples due to the “Surya Grahan” (solar eclipse) on October 25 and again for a similar duration on November 8th due to the “Chandra Grahan” (lunar eclipse).

According to the TTD sources, due to the “Surya Grahan” (solar eclipse) on October 25, the portals of the Tirumala temple will remain closed from 8.11 am to 7.30 pm. The temple will allow the pilgrims after the solar eclipse gets over.

Likewise, the doors of the hill shrine would be closed from 8.40 am to 7.20 pm due to ‘Chandra Grahan’ (lunar eclipse). The Kalyanotsavam ritual including VIP break darshan, SRIVANI trust linked VIP break darshan, Rs. 300 special entry darshan and all other forms of privilege darshana will remain suspended on these two days. The TTD officials said the rituals at the hill temple would resume after the conduct of purificatory rituals.
