Strict Lockdown In Guntur, 2 Places Marked As Containment Zones

The Andhra Pradesh government has extended coronavirus induced lockdown till June 20. Fresh guidelines have been released, the timings for relaxation in the curfew hours will be from 6 am to 2 pm. The extended relaxation time for the movement of people was in place from June 10. As the number of coronavirus cases are decreasing in the state, the AP government has decided to extend the curfew till June 20th with some relaxations.

Earlier, more than 20,000 cases have been reported in Andhra Pradesh but now the numbers have been decreased to 10,000. The number of active cases also decreased. Some of the places in AP are having less number of coronavirus cases whereas a few parts of the state are witnessing high number of COVID-19 positive cases.

More number of coronavirus cases have been reported in the Ipur and also Vanikunta village. So, the officials announced complete lockdown in those places. Shops will be kept open from 6am to 8am. These two places have been named as the containment zones. People shouldn't venture outside after 8am and strict action will be taken against those who come out after 8am.

The positivity rate in Andhra Pradesh declined from a high of 25% in mid-May to about 10%. The curfew was first imposed on May 5 and it was supposed to end on June 10 but the Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy decided to extend it for ten more days.
