SC Quashes AP High Court Order Expressing Strong Observations in Govt Land Auction Case

10 Feb, 2024 21:03 IST|Sakshi Post

New Delhi: The Supreme Court overruled remarks made by Andhra Pradesh High Court Judge Justice Rakesh Kumar regarding Andhra Pradesh government and administrative matters. The state government had challenged the Dec 30, 2020 judgement by Justice Rakesh Kumar.

The state government’s petition sought the withdrawal  of Justice Kumar from a case involving a challenge to the government's decision to sell government assets (land) through auction. Justice Kumar had made strong observations in the matter.

A bench of Justices Bela M Trivedi and Pankaj Mittal heard the appeal filed by AP government against the order authored by Justice Kumar.  The top court quashed the contentious observations made in the order by a single-judge bench of Andhra Pradesh High Court and disposed of the matter.
