Political Tsunami in Andhra Pradesh: Election Schedule Announcement Tomorrow

15 Mar, 2024 15:29 IST|Sakshi Post

Tomorrow is an important day in Andhra Pradesh's politics because the Election Commission will announce the schedule for the Lok Sabha and Andhra Pradesh Assembly elections. The announcement will cause a lot of activity as candidates are chosen and political parties prepare to make their election campaigns more intense.

The ruling YSRCP, led by Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy, plans to announce candidates for all 175 Assembly seats and 25 Lok Sabha seats. The party has carefully planned and chosen candidates for over 70 Assembly and 20 Parliament seats, using surveys, local dynamics, and candidates' track records.

The main opposition party, TDP, has formed an alliance with Jana Sena and BJP. However, the process of candidate selection has stirred tensions within the alliance. It has led to resignations and dissent in various quarters. The challenge for TDP lies in maintaining internal stability and ensuring cooperation among alliance candidates.

Meanwhile, the BJP has departed from its solo strategy and also forged an alliance with TDP and Janasena in Andhra Pradesh. However, the seat distribution and cooperation among the alliance partners remain uncertain. Analysts foresee a compelling narrative unfolding as the alliance dynamics evolve.

During the 2019 elections, Andhra Pradesh witnessed a single-phase election for all Assembly and Lok Sabha seats.  The upcoming polls are expected to follow a similar pattern. With only one vacancy remaining, the likelihood of conducting elections in a single phase is high.

As the political tsunami sweeps through Andhra Pradesh, the stage is set for a riveting battle that will shape the Telugu state's future.
