Part-time Politics: Pawan Kalyan, a Quintessential Agnyaathavaasi in Politics

4 Mar, 2024 19:30 IST|Sakshi Post

Power Star Pawan Kalyan, who is also the Jana Sena chief, seems to be finding it difficult to balance both his political and cinematic life. He wants to be a successful politician and also does not want to jeopardise his film career. However, there are concerns when film personalities venture into politics, as they often find it challenging to quit their film careers.

The voters may not like individuals who attempt to pursue both politics and films, especially if their goal is to achieve success in politics.  During the previous elections, Pawan Kalyan was defeated in both the constituencies, possibly due to the public's skepticism about his ability to fully dedicate himself to politics while maintaining his film career. Jana Sena had fielded 8 candidates in Telangana Assembly elections, however, Pawan Kalyan did not campaign for them and as a result the party lost the elections.

One cannot stop but think about whether Pawan Kalyan is a part-time politician or if his films are a part-time project. Over the last two years, it is clear that Pawan Kalyan has prioritised his film career over politics. After attending a ‘Jenda’ meeting a week ago at Tadepalligudem, he was not seen actively participating in political activities ahead of assembly elections in the state. Pawan is yet to announce from which constituency he will contest in the upcoming elections as the elections are just around the corner.

Even though Pawan Kalyan is heading a political party and yet he’s consistently working in films too. Let's take a look at the list of his films over the last three years.

2019 - Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy (he dubbed for the Telugu movie)
2021 - Vakeel Saab
2022 - Bheemla Nayak
2023 - Bro
2024 - OG, Hari Hara Veera Mallu, Ustad Bhagat Singh (?)

Pawan Kalyan is gearing up for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections while simultaneously juggling his acting commitments. This year, he has three films lined up – Hari Hara Veeramallu (directed by Krish Jagarlamudi), OG (directed by Sujeeth), and Ustad Bhagat Singh (directed by Harish Shankar). At least 30 days of shooting remain for these projects, and the release dates have already been announced for these films.

Jana Sena chief has been appointed as a star campaigner for the TDP which appears to be a part-time role to support Chandrababu Naidu during the election campaigning in the state. Once the elections are over, Pawan Kalyan is expected to return to regular shooting for his upcoming film projects.
