Kuppam: In Indian politics, it is not common for the chief minister to visit the constituency of the opposition leader. They tend to avoid areas with support for the opposition party. Because, the locals may not extend the kind of warm welcome to them which is normally given to their leader. However, YSRCP is a party of difference.

Chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy ensured the development and progress in the opposition areas too. On Monday, CM YS Jagan visited the TDP’s bastion to fulfill the long-pending demand of Kuppam people for supply of Krishna waters to the drought-hit Kuppam constituency. He released the Krishna water from the Kuppam Branch Canal at Rajupet in Rama Kuppam mandal of Chittoor district.

CM Jagan received an overwhelming reception from the people of Kuppam. A large crowd gathered to catch a glimpse of him, and his speech won their hearts. Jagan demonstrated his political acumen and statesmanship, earning appreciation from the people. Political analysts have praised Jagan for his visit to Kuppam.

Interestingly, CM Jagan listed the welfare and development programs implemented in Kuppam under his leadership. He also criticized the opposition for their unwillingness to serve the people. CM Jagan faulted Chandrababu for neglecting Kuppam constituency despite serving as CM for 14 years and representing Kuppam as MLA for 34 years.

TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu has been winning the Assembly elections from Kuppam constituency for over three decades, however, he could not solve the perennial problem of supply of drinking water to the constituents.

After taking charge as a chief minister of the state, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy took up various developmental programmes in the Kuppam assembly segment. The YSRCP government constructed the branch canal at a cost of Rs 560.29 crore to provide irrigation water and potable water to the over 4 lakh residents in Kuppam and Palamneru constituencies.

Under YSRCP rule, Kuppam was elevated to municipality status and also revenue division and police sub-division were established in the region. Naidu had closed down the Chittoor milk dairy which was once touted as the second biggest dairy in the country. However, CM YS Jagan revived it by partnering with Amul dairy. In addition to these, the YSRCP regime also allocated housing plots to 15,727 people in Kuppam. A record 45,974 people are getting pensions under the current regime. The government is providing pensions to every eligible individual without discrimination, regardless of caste or religion and without any corruption by opting for DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer) method.

Addressing the people of Kuppam, CM YS Jagan said if the local voters elect YSRCP candidate Bharat in the upcoming Assembly elections, he’d give a ‘ministerial berth’ to Kuppam constituency. He also promised to look after the Kuppam segment as his own and will ensure its development.
