No pensioner had to walk up to the government office to receive his or her pension until the TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu stepped in with an ulterior motive. Naidu and Co made their moves through the Citizens for Democracy secretary and State Election Commissioner Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar and approached the court citing enforcement of model code of conduct in Andhra Pradesh. As the court ruled in their favour, Naidu and Co thought they had succeeded by stopping the volunteers.

The opposition did not find an issue to target the ruling YSRCP government, so they started troubling the differently-abled and old pensioners. The chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy ensured that the pensions are delivered at their doorstep and on time. With Naidu playing a villain, the poor pensioners are made to run from pillar to post to receive their pensions.

Nearly 66 lakh poor and destitute men and women are dependent on their pension as they have little or no regular means of subsistence from their own sources of income or through financial support from family members or other sources.

The destitute pensioners are angry with the opposition leader for stopping their pension. They say that Naidu has shown his anti-poor behaviour before the elections and they have no trust in him. Because of Naidu, thousands of pensioners have started queueing up outside the ward secretariat offices since morning.

Taking the inconvenience of poor and destitute pensioners into consideration, the government has decided to resume the disbursement of pensions on Wednesday. The government has deposited Rs 1,951.69 crores into the bank accounts of respective village and ward secretariats on Tuesday night. The government has directed the collectors to ensure the delivery of pensions for the differently-abled, terminally ill, bed-ridden and old widows at their doorstep immediately.
