TDP Seniors To Revolt Against Chandrababu?

26 Feb, 2024 16:51 IST|Sakshi Post

Amaravati: Resentment is brewing in TDP after the party denied tickets to several senior leaders for the upcoming Assembly elections in the state. As the dissatisfaction is growing in the party, Chandrababu Naidu got into the fire-fighting mode. Last week, TDP and Janasena announced their first joint list of candidates.

He was seen calling the disgruntled leaders and holding separate discussions with them at his Undavalli residence on Sunday. The TDP chief tried to pacify several senior leaders and former ministers including Devineni Uma Maheswara, Alapati Rajendra Prasad, Ganta Srinivasa Rao, Peela Govinda Satyanarayana (Peela Govind) and Boddu Venkataramana Chowdary

Former minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao held a discussion with Naidu over the party’s diktat to contest the election from Cheepurupalli instead of Bheemili seat. Later, he told the reporters that the party chief appeared confident that he could win an election from any constituency. Notably, Education minister Botsa Satyanarayana is seeking a re-election from Cheepurupalli seat.

During a discussion with the TDP president, Devineni Uma Maheswara told Naidu that he wants to contest the election from Mylavaram seat, however, the party leadership appears to be fielding a turncoat legislator Vasantha Venkata Krishna Prasad from this assembly segment. Naidu is learnt to have assured Devineni of an MLC seat if the party comes to power in the state. Reports suggest that the TDP leadership is actively considering his name for the Penamaluru Assembly constituency.

Naidu also held talks with Alapati Rajendra Prasad after the party had to vacate the MLA seat to Jana Sena Party as part of seat-sharing agreement. Jana Sena leader Nadendla Manohar will be contesting the elections from Tenali segment. Alapati did not agree to the party's offer of suitable alternative opportunity.

Similarly, Peela Govind and Boddu Venkataramana Chowdary appeared dissatisfied as Naidu failed to pacify them. Venkataramana is vying for Rajanagaram MLA seat which was given to Janasena while Peela Govind has expressed his desire to contest from Anakapalli seat which is also allocated to Pawan Kalyan’s party.
