Tirupati: In what appears to be a balancing act, TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu said he did not seek an alliance with the BJP but had to form one when they approached him. He made this remark during an interaction with the Muslim voters and youth in Kuppam. There were reports that Muslims were drifting away from the opposition party after it joined the BJP-led NDA bloc at the centre for upcoming elections.

During his visit to the home constituency, Naidu addressed a gathering of Muslims and youth in Kuppam. He clarified that he did not actively seek an alliance with the BJP. Naidu reassured the minorities, saying "When the NDA was there or when it was not there, we stood by the minorities. The alliance is not for seats."

The TDP chief also made a series of promises to the electorate including development of Kuppam, filling ponds with water from Handri-Neeva canal and construction of an airport.

During his interaction with the youth, Naidu faced questions about his long-standing promise to build an airport in Kuppam. A young man directly asked when the airport would be built, to which Naidu responded that he would construct it as soon as he came to power.

The TDP chief also faced a question from an elderly woman, Venkatamma, who inquired about the reconstruction of her house demolished during the TDP regime. After a brief interaction, Naidu left for Ramakuppam mandal's Rajupeta within 20 minutes.
