Modern Govt Schools Open in AP, NEP Implementation Next Agenda

P. Gannavaram ( East Godavari): For the second consecutive year, Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Monday distributed the Jagananna Vidya Kanuka kits to the students as schools across the State were reopened and also dedicated the first phase of Mana Badi Nadu-Nedu works to the students.

Addressing a public meeting, the Chief Minister said that the schools are being reopened after a long break due to Covid, where even organisations like ICMR and WHO also suggested that schools should be reopened for the future of students. He stated that all the schools that are in less than 10 percent positivity rate will be functional following a strict Covid protocol and the decision was made keeping the students future in view.

All the teachers have been vaccinated and instructed the schools to limit only 20 students in each room and if the section strength is above 20, then the classes will be taken on alternate days. In the next 5-10 years all these students will graduate, look for good jobs and better salaries to improve their family financial status.

The Chief Minister also launched the distribution of Jagananna Vidhya Kanuka, spending a whopping Rs 731 crore to provide the education kits to the 47.32 lakh students of government and aided schools in the academic year 2021-22. The kit comprises three pairs of uniform cloths,bilingual textbooks, workbooks, notebooks, stationary and shoes.

This year, an Oxford dictionary has been included and students upto class 5 will be receiving a dictionary with pictures. On Jagananna Vidya Kanuka alone, the State government had spent Rs 1380 crore in the last two years. The Chief Minister said that it was a gift from their uncle, and there will not be any compromise on the quality of the contents.

Later, the Chief Minister inaugurated the first installment of the schools constructed under Nadu-Nedu and dedicated them to the students on this occasion. Under the first tranche of Manabadi Nadu-Nedu, 15,715 government schools were modernized with Rs 3,669 crore. And further started the works of the second phase of Nadu-Nedu in 16,368 educational institutions at a cost of Rs 4535 crore. He said that the State government has taken this project to renovate over 56,000 schools at an expenditure of Rs 16,000 crore.

Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy said that under Nadu-Nedu, ten changes were brought to the schools, refurbishing with new furniture, drinking water with Ph balance, clean toilets, colorful paints, compound wall, other minor repairs, green boards, fans, tubelights, English labs and Kitchen shed to prepare meals for the students. He stated that in two years of governance, the overall admissions in schools across the State were increased to 73.05 lakh students from earlier 70.43 lakh. The number of enrollments in government schools was also increased to 43.43 lakh, from 37.20 lakh in 2018-19.

For Ammavodi, Vidya Deevena, Vasati Deevena, Gorumuddha, Vidya Kanuka, Manabadi Nadu- Nedu, and Sampoorna Poshana schemes, the State government had spent Rs 32,714 crore in the last two years, saying that the true asset that one can give for better future was education.

Further, the Chief Minister said that from this academic onwards all the schools will be categorised into six types falling in line with National Educational Policy (NEP). Under NEP, Satellite Schools will be set up in village hamlets offering PP-1, PP-2, Foundation‌ Schools in villages offering  PP-1, PP- 2, class 1 and 2, Foundation Plus Schools offering PP-1, PP-2 and classes 1-5, Pre-high schools‌ teach PP-1, PP-2, and classes 1-7, High Schools from classes 3-10 and High School Plus have classes 3- 12.

 Also, he said that skilled teachers will be made available in the schools, even the single teacher schools will be transformed, where different subjects will be taught by different teachers. On this occasion, the Chief Minister announced to take up three developmental projects in P.Gannavaram constituency.

Deputy Chief Minister Dharmana Krishnadas, Ministers Adimulapu Suresh, Kurasala Kannababu, P Viswaroop, Ch Venugopala Krishna, local MLAs, party leaders and various other officials were present at the occasion.
