M Victor Prasad Takes Charge As New Chairman of AP SC Commission

AMARAVATI: Marumudi Victor Prasad took charge as the new Chairman of the Andhra Pradesh State Scheduled Caste Commission on Tuesday. Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy had decided to set up separate commissions for the welfare of SCs and STs and bill to this effect was also passed in the AP Assembly in January last year. The Bill was approved by the President of India on the 27th of last month.

The government chose Victor Prasad for the post of the SC Commission.

Victor Prasad is a lawyer  by profession and hails from Machilipatnam in Krishna district. He has been campaigning for the past 30 years for the cause of Dalits and their empowerment.

The government on Monday issued orders in this regard and Victor Prasad will hold the post for three years.
