Gautam Sawang Appointed New APPSC Chairman

AMARAVATI: The State government on Thursday appointed the outgoing Director-General of Police (DGP), Damodar Gautam Sawang as the new full-time Chairman of the Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC).Official orders to this effect are awaited.

AV Ramana Reddy a member of the APPSC was functioning as the in-charge chairman of the Commission since December 2021 after the previous chairman Pinnamaneni Udaybahasker retired from the post.

PSR Seetharamanjaneyulu is the current APPSC Secretary, and also holds the posts of Director General (DG) of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) and the AP Transport Commissioner.

The AP government on Tuesday had appointed Kasireddy V Rajendranath Reddy in full additional charge as the State. Rajendranath Reddy, an IPS officer of the 1992 batch, is currently the Director-General of Intelligence.

Gautam Sawang an officer of the 1986 batch, had been the State DGP since May 30, 2019, and is  due to retire from service on July 31, 2023

In another transfer, the  AP Government on Monday had transferred Chief Minister's Principal Secretary Praveen Prakash to New Delhi as Principal Resident Commissioner of AP Bhavan.
