YSR Kadapa: The Central Election Commission (CEC) on Tuesday announced the date for by-elections for three Lok Sabha seats and 30 assembly constituencies spread across various states, which will be held in October 30. As part of this, by-elections will be held for the Badvel Assembly constituency in the YSR Kadapa district of Andhra Pradesh.

The by-polls for this constituency were necessitated due to the death of sitting MLA Dr. D Venkatasubbaiah of the ruling YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) who passed away due to illness on March 28th this year.

The YSRCP has decided to field his wife Dr. Dasari Sudha as its candidate for the upcoming by-polls. She is currently practicing as a doctor in YSR Kadapa. Dr. Sudha has already conducted an introductory program in the Badvel constituency and is meeting the people there.

The Opposition TDP is fielding Obulapuram Rajasekhar as its candidate. Rajasekhar had earlier contested in the 2019 General Elections and lost to Dr. Venkatasubbaiah, who won the polls with 95,482 votes. The BJP, Jana Sena and Congress parties are yet to finalize their candidates.
