Assassination attempt on CM Jagan: YSRCP complains to EC

Vijayawada: In the wake of an assassination attempt on Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, leaders from the ruling YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) have filed a complaint with the State Election Commission on Sunday. A delegation comprising YSRCP General Secretary Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy, Malladi Vishnu, and other party leaders met with the Chief Electoral Officer Mukesh Kumar Meena, to lodge their grievance.

The YSRCP leaders alleged a conspiracy angle behind the attack on the Chief Minister and urged the Election Commission to investigate the matter thoroughly. Addressing the media after the meeting, Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy expressed concern over the incident in which CM Jagan Mohan Reddy received an injury to the forehead just above the left eye.

"We have filed a complaint with the EC regarding the attack on CM Jagan," Sajjala stated.

"The incident has been condemned by leaders across the political spectrum, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and chief ministers of various states cutting across party lines," he added.

"Chandrababu Naidu's (TDP chief) statements are inciting unrest. Such provocative comments should not be made in politics. We have requested the EC to take necessary actions to control this situation." the YSRCP leader remarked.

It is clear that the attack was planned. The object used in the attack hit CM Jagan's eye at high speed and also hit party colleague Vellampalli's eye who would have lost his eye," Sajjala added.
