APSRTC To Provide Free Bus Rides To 10th Class Students During SSC Exams

AMARAVATI: Andhra Pradesh Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) has offered free bus rides to 10th class student who will be appearing for SSC examinations from the end of April. An order to this effect was released on Thursday.

APSRTC Executive Director (Operations) has directed the Executive Directors of the respective zones and District Public Transport Offices in the state to provide free rides in the RTC buses from their villages to the examination centers for the students appearing for the examinations. It also suggested extending the free travel for them to take back home after the examination.

Students will have to show their hall tickets to avail the free bus ride. This free service will be in effect from April 27 to May 9, when the 10th class exams are conducted. A total of 6,22,746 students will appear for the exams, which will be held at 3,780 test centers across the State.

Education Minister Botsa Satyanarayana visited the Samagra Sikshya Abhiyaan state center for the first time on Thursday, after assuming charge. A review meeting was conducted with the senior officials of the Department of Education. He directed that all the educational schemes implemented by the state government be implemented effectively. Botsa Satyanarayana also held a video conference with District Collectors over the precautions to be taken for conducting the examinations in the wake of the Class X public examinations starting from the 27th of this month. Authorities were instructed to make appropriate arrangements including drinking water, medical facilities, furniture arrangements, etc., for the students and ensure that they face no inconvenience.

The meeting was attended by Principal Secretary, School Education B. Rajasekhar,  S. Suresh Kumar Commissioner of School Education, AP Examinations Board Director D. Devananda Reddy and other officials attended.
