AP MPTC ZPTC Elections 2021: Counting of Votes Underway

COUNTING OF VOTES UNDERWAY FOR AP MPTC ZPTC ELECTIONS 2021: The Counting of votes for the highly anticipated  Andhra Pradesh MPTC and ZPTC elections will be released on Sunday and the ruling YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) is leading  in the results tally this time as well.

Candidates filed nominations for 7,219 MPTC and 515 ZPTC seats, where a total of 1,29,55,980 voters exercised their right to vote in the April 8 MPTC ZPTC polls. Due to the Opposition parties litigation and  High Court judgment the votes were confined to the strong rooms for around five and a half months.The wait was put to an end after the High Court Bench quashed the single judge orders stalling the counting of votes on Friday and allowing the process of counting of votes, which started at 8 AM today.

All arrangements are in place for the  counting of votes for elections held for 571 Mandal Parishad Territorial Constituencies (MPTC) and 45 Zilla Parishad Territorial Constituencies (ZPTC) in Andhra Pradesh.

The final results are expected to be declared by the evening.

Authorities have also imposed Prohibitory orders under Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure to avoid any untoward incident. The entire process of counting of votes would be videographed.

The State Election Commission has made arrangements to conduct the counting of votes at 209 places in 206 centers across the state.

At each counting center, separate halls were set up for the counting of votes zone-wise.

State Election Commissioner Nilam Sahwney held a teleconference with all district collectors, SPs and police commissioners on Saturday morning to review the arrangements made in the districts for the counting of votes.

A total of 44,155 staff members will be working with the Returning Officers and Assistant Returning Officers during the counting of votes.

Following the COVID precautionary measures prescribed by the State Health Department, all arrangements have been made for the counting of votes. The counting staff were given training to ensure that the counting process runs smoothly. ‘’ The applicant and the counting agents must show proof of completion of both doses of vaccine. We have already stated that if there is a negative in the Rapid Anti Gene Test / RTPCR Tests, the staff will be allowed inside the counting centers. At the state level, we are setting up a Command and Control Center in the office of the Panchayati Raj and the Commissioner of Rural Development. Thirteen officers have been appointed to oversee the vote counting process in 13 districts,’’ said Gopal Krishna Dwivedi, principal secretary of Panchayat Raj and Rural Development.
