AP CM YS Jagan Announces Rs 10 Lakh Compensation To Vijayawada Hospital Rape Victim

AMARAVATI/VIJAYAWADA: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy took serious note of the alleged rape of a mentally unsound woman in Vijayawada Government Hospital, and directed officials concerned to nab the culprits and take strict action against them. The AP Government has announced a compensation of Rs 10 lakh to the victim and her family members.

Meanwhile, a Circle Inspector and a Sub Inspector, CI Haneesh Rao and Srinivas respectively, have been suspended from duty on the grounds of negligence as per the orders of the Chief Minister. The medical health department has also initiated action on the incident. As per the directions of the Chief Minister, action has been initiated against the security staff of Vijayawada Hospital where the crime was convicted.

The three accused were identified as workers of a pest control agency and orders were issued dismissing them. A termination notice has been issued to the security agency and pest control agency at Vijayawada Hospital and a showcase notice issued to Hospital Resident Medical Officer. The Director of Medical Education has been directed to conduct a full-scale investigation into the matter and the medical department was directed to take further action after the report was submitted.
