VISAKHAPATNAM: Even as the agitation against the privatization of Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL), known better as the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant continuing for the past year and which has now reached the portals of Parliament at Delhi, the VSP has set another record between the months of April and July. Steel sales in July stood at a record 540.8 tonnes and were up 35 percent when compared to last year.
RINL said on Twitter that it had sold 1,538,000 tonnes of steel between April and July. It said it had sold 48 percent more in those 4 months compared to last year. The workers have been striving hard to improve productivity and ensure profitability for the company.
Meanwhile, VSPworkers at Jantar Mantar in Delhi has been protesting for the past two days against the privatization of the Visakhapatnam steel plant. The YSR Congress Party MPs and the AP government are standing in solidarity with the workers at Delhi while attending the Parliament Monsoon Sessions.
