CM reviews Jagananna Palavelluva, Fisheries

Amaravati: Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy held a review meeting on Jagananna Palavelluva scheme and Fisheries Department and said it has become inevitable for dairies across the state to increase the price of milk procured from farmers after Amul entered the market and added that the income has increased from Rs 5 to Rs 15 per liter. 


During the review meeting held at camp office here on Tuesday, the Chief Minister said some vested interests have destroyed Cooperative Services dairies for their self interest.  He said conditions were created for most of the cooperative service dairies not to function properly to benefit Heritage Dairy. The Chief Minister said the State Government has been implementing YSR Cheyutha and Aasara schemes for sustainable economic development of women and they have bought cattle to increase their income and added that the state government has been constructing BMCUs to support them. He said a transparent co-operative system will benefit women and directed the officials to strengthen cooperative system in villages and added to restore Chittoor Dairy. The officials informed the Chief Minister that Amul has purchased 71,373 liters of milk in November 2020, 14, 46,979 liters of milk in August 2021 and a total of 1,10,06,770 liters of milk so far and added that the average purchase of milk has increased from 6780 liters to 51,502 liters per day. The Chief Minister has unveiled Jagannanna Palavelluva Guidelines for Secretaries, and Jagannanna Palavelluva- Training Handbook designed by the Andhra Pradesh Dairy Development Cooperative Federation. 


The Chief Minister said Aqua hubs and retail shops are being setup across the state not only to provide nutritious food to the people, but also to provide better prices to aqua farmers by increasing local consumption. He said complaints are received that exporters and processing companies are forming a syndicate and cutting the rates for aqua farmers and added that the government is stepping into the pre-processing, processing and retail sectors to solve this problem. He instructed the officials to create awareness, give promotion and provide training on cultivation of sea foods that have good opportunities for exports and added to encourage aqua farmers in this regard. He directed the officials to ensure new aqua laws are strictly enforced. 


The Chief Minister instructed the officials to ensure subsidies being provided for aquaculture sector are directly reached to the farmers and said to come up with more appropriate ideas to benefit aqua farmers. He said to come up with ideas to open a small size restaurant at Aqua hubs in future. The Chief Minister also released the Fish Andhra logo. The officials informed the Chief Minister that around 40,000 people will be directly employed through aqua hubs and affiliated retail stores and added that around 75–80 aqua hubs and 14,000 retail outlets will be made available by January 26 and the pre-processing and processing units will be ready by December, next year. They said steps are being taken to set up 10 processing plants and 23 pre-processing plants so that syndicate could be checked and farmers will get better prices. The officials informed the Chief Minister that works related to four fishing harbours at Juvvaladinne, Nizampatnam,  Machilipatnam and Uppada were started and they will be ready by June-July next year. They said steps are being taken to start the works at remaining five harbours in December 2021 and the works will be completed within eighteen months.
