Hyderabad: A teenage pregnant woman in Chicago was strangled to death and her baby was cut out of her womb. Marlen Ochoa-Lopez (19) was nine months pregnant and went missing on April 23 after she left from her school. On Thursday, Chicago police said that they found her body and arrested three people who are accused in the murder.

The infant, who was cut out from the body is in critical condition and is kept under observation at the hospital.

"Words really cannot express how disgusting and thoroughly disturbing these allegations are," Chicago Police Supt. Eddie Johnson said at a news conference on Thursday.

Police said that the accused lured Lopez to a house to pick up free baby clothes. Lopez had met the woman offering clothes in the past for baby items. She has been identified as 46-year-old Clarisa Figueroa.

However, on April 23, Figueroa and her daughter Desiree Figueroa (24) strangled her with a coax cable and disposed her body at the trash can outside her home.

The police suspect that the women planned to raise the child as their own.

Figueroa then called 911, the emergency medical number in US, and informed paramedics that the baby was not breathing and faked that she was the mother. The newborn was taken to the hospital.

The hospital was cooperating with the authorities but was not answering all the queries as they wanted to maintain privacy of the patients.

On May 7, police established a link between Lopez's death and the newborn's birth. Lopez's friend told police that she was part of a Facebook group for mothers and it was how the accused met Lopez.

Police traced the links and searched the house of Figueros and on Wednesday they found the remains of Lopez from their home.

Desiree Figueroa confessed to police on Thursday about the killing and she and her mother faces charges of first-degree murder and aggravated battery on a child. Clarissa Figueroa's boyfriend, Piotr Bobak is accused of hiding the murder case.

Lopez is survived by her husband and a three-year-old son. Her husband, Yiovanni Lopez, has been visiting his newborn son in the hospital.
