Hyderabad: In a surprise development, the High Court today has asked former MP G Vivek not to continue as the president of Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) until the complete investigation has been completed. Earlier the single bench of HC had stayed the decision of HCA ombudsman to remove him from the post of HCA president. But now the fresh court ruling has reversed the earlier verdict.

Ombudsman Justice L Narasimha Reddy had issued orders in March this year asking Vivek not to continue as HCA president due to conflict of interests. He had said that Vivek was holding a cabinet position in the government as an Advisor and therefore, cannot hold this office as well. The former MP challenged this decision in HC and then the single bench had awarded stay on the ombudsman's decision.

Meanwhile former Indian cricket captain Azharuddin welcomed the HC order and said that the Vivek panel was not elected as per norms. The ombudsman's decision against Vivek is very much correct, he observed. He said that he has been fighting against Vivek panel since long and finally justice prevailed. The next course of action will be decided in the HCA general body meeting, he added.
