New Delhi: The five YSR Congress Party MPs - PV Midhun Reddy, Vara Prasada Rao, Mekapati Rajamohan Reddy, and YS Avinash Reddy - who have resigned in protest against the Central government's denial of Special Category Status (SCS) to Andhra Pradesh welcomed the decision of the Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan to accept their resignations here today. Talking to the media they said that the MPs were asked to submit individual letters.

The YSRCP MPs once again made it clear that they would in no way go back on thir decision to resign since the Centre has denied SCS to AP. Understanding their position, Speaker accepted their resignations. Mekapati said they had also requested the Speaker to take action against the MPs who had crossed over. He also added that an official communication regarding the acceptance of resignations by YSRCP MPs would be made this evening by the Speaker's office.

Vara Prasad Rao criticised Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and said that AP Cm was capable of staging drama and nothing else. The TDP Chief had never demanded the centre to grant SCS to AP. "Chandrababu always says he was not afraid of elections. In that case why does he ask the 23 YSRCP MLAs who shifted to TDP to quit and hold elections," he questioned. On the other hand YSRCP President YS Jagan Mohan Reddy was setting a precedence of by asking other party leaders to quit from their position before joining the party, he said.

Expressing similar views, Ongole MP YV Subba Reddy said that they had resigned from Lok Sabha from the welfare of the state. He said they would fight by-elections and the government should take action against the MLAs who have changed parties. Chandrababu government was leading the list of corrupt government in the country, he said and added that YSRCP would continue it relentless fight for SCS. He said people in the state were of the belief that SCS would be possible only through YS Jagan.

Echoing the same, MP Midhun Reddy said that the resignations were for the benefit of the state and that YSRCP was only the party which was concerned about the poor and needy in AP. He said that their party would work with the public and intensify their stir for SCS.

Finally YS Avinash Reddy said that AP CM and his son Lokesh were deceiving people by misleading states on day-to-day basis. He questioned Chandrababu why he was not ready to take action against the MLAs who shifted parties and still say that TDP would contest bypolls. YSRCP was not afraid of by-elections and always believed in people, he added.
