Hyderabad: Telangana Opposition Leader Jana Reddy criticised his own Congress party for not handling the issue of expelling two party MLAs - Komatireddi Venkat Reddy and Sampath Kumar from state legislative assembly and for failing to take on the government on the issue. Speaking to media here today, he said that Komatireddi did not mention about all the MLAs resigning en masse in protest against MLAs being expelled. If only the top leadership of Congress had ordered he would have been the first person to resign from his post, he said.

Jana Reddy said if there was a need to react strongly to the expulsion of the two MLAs, the party would convene a meeting and take necessary decision. There was no talk about MLAs resigning en masse, he clarified. "We will go by top leadership's instructions and if asked by the high command to resign, I will be the first person to quit. Jana Reddy is always ready to contribute to the party and will never step back on any issue," he said.

The Opposition Leader said that the KCR government was promoting vindictive and unethical practices and he was also target of such politics. He pointed out that the TRS government was trying to suppress people and parties that were critical of the government.

He was happy about the court's decision to dismiss a petition filed by TRS MLAs against the court order to stay the suspension of two Congress MLAs. The court's judgement in Karnataka recently and now in Telangana was an indicator that democracy was still alive in the country, he said. Jana Reddy called upon the Speaker to remove the suspension on the MLAs and abide by the court decision and he also asked for assembly secretary to interfere in the matter. Else the government would be in contempt of court orders, he added.
