Mahabubnagar: A farmer committed suicide over loss of money received from the Rythu Bandhu scheme on Sunday night in Jadcherla mandal here. According to police, the deceased was identified as Mallaiah (62), who belongs to Gangapur village. Mallaiah was allegedly upset after an unidentified person stole the money he received from the bank as part of the scheme.
Soon after Mallaiah received Rs 40,000 from the bank, two persons who claimed to be acquaintances of his son approached and gave money to buy a pen for them. Also, they offered to take care of Mallaiah's money. But the two vanished with his money in a flash.

The police have registered a case and are investigating the possible reasons for Malliah's suicide. Jadcherla CircIe Inspector Balraju said, “The money was stolen after diverting Mallaiah’s attention. We are making all efforts to trace the suspects.”
