Director Nag Ashwin's Telugu biopic Mahanati is creating waves in domestic as well as international markets. Mahanati is racing towards touching the $2.5 million mark in the overseas box office. Mahanati is all about yesteryear actress Savitri's life story and her rise to stardom. Savitri ruled the box office in the 50s and 60s. She has acted in more than 300 films and became a great icon for younger generations in the film industry. Guess what? Savitri is still ruling the box office, thanks to her biopic Mahanati.
Mollywood actor Dulquer Salman who made his Telugu debut with Mahanati has won accolades for his performance from all quarters. He played the role of Tamil star Gemini Ganesan. Samantha, Naga Chaitanya, Rajendra Prasad and Mohan Babu are seen in key roles. Mahanati has become the talk of the town.

Though it is a women-centric film the film is giving tough competition for newly released films like- Nela Ticket and Ammammagarillu. It is worth mentioning here that Mahanati has become the highest grossing film of 2018 despite competition from films of Tollywood top stars-Charan's Rangasthalam and Mahesh's Bharat Ane Nenu.
