Kodela Asked To Appear In Court

Karimnagar: Andhra Pradesh assembly Speaker Kodela Sivaprasad Rao was in for a rude shock when summoned before the Special Mobile Court here. Kodela has been asked to put in a personal appearance relating to the interview that he gave to a private news channel that he had spent Rs 11.50 crores for 2014 elections.

Karimnagar's Singireddi Bhaskar Reddy approached the court saying that Kodela violated the election commission rules by spending a huge amount for elections and filed a petition. Kodela has now been asked to make a personal appearance in this case on June 18 at Karimnagar Special Mobile Court.

Based on the petition by Bhaskar Reddy, a case was filed against Kodela under different sections and on March 7, 2017, summons were issued. He got respite after approaching the High Court and got a stay for personal appearance. Yet another petition was filed against the stay in Supreme Court. After hearing the arguments from both the sides the Karimnagar court has ordered Kodela to make a personal appearance.
