Chennai: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Subramanya Swamy said the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) had no right to ask the Head Priest Ramana Deekshitulu to retire. He called for TTD to be an independent authority and said that the government should not interfere in day-to-day affairs. He also demanded a CBI probe into the alleged missing of temple jewellery.

Subramanya Swamy said he would file a petition in Supreme Court on the three matters mentioned above. He also said he would request for a stay on Ramana Deekshitulu's retirement. The BJP MP pointed out that Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu had no right to conduct review meeting on TTD affairs. The temple management should be handed over to saints, else such instances of looting of temples would continue, he said.

He asserted that BJP was in no way concerned with the case. The case was being filed on behalf of Virat Hindu Sangatan, he informed and added that he would definitely win this case.
