Kanye West Tweet On India’s Hugging Saint Mata Amritanandamayi

American singer Kanye West chose spiritual guru Mata Amritanandamayi to stress the value of hugs and the importance of hugging, with his latest post on Twitter. On Monday, the popular rapper felt we all need hugs sometimes. "Sometimes we all need hugs," he tweeted.

The rapper shared a photo of Mata Amritanandamayi, better known as Amma, is believed to have embraced by hugging more than 32 million people throughout the world for over 30 years. Hugging people is Mata's popular form of giving darshan and blessing them. Asked about how the hugging form of darshan began, she said, "People used to come and tell [me] their troubles. They would cry and I would wipe their tears. When they fell weeping into my lap, I used to hug them. Then the next person too wanted it... And so the habit picked up."

Kanye, who returned to the microblogging site only last month after a one year pause, tweeted on Monday, "Amma Mata had given over 32 million hugs."

In 2014, Kanye married American reality television personality Kim Kardashian. The celebrity couple gave birth to their third child, Chicago West, in January this year.
