Gwalior: A Rajdhani superfast train bound for Visakhapatnam from New Delhi caught fire a few minutes ago near Birlanagar station in Madhya Pardesh's Gwalior city.

AC bogies No. B6, and B7 of the stationary train were engulfed in flames. The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained. According to the initial reports, all the passengers have been evacuated safely and the fire is also under control.

Some reports said that a high tension overhead wire fell on the coach number B6 and B7 and caused the fire.

According to a Railway Ministry official, the fire was detected in the B-6 coach around 11.50 a.m. The fire then spread to the B-7 coach, Ved Prakash, a Railway Ministry spokesperson, told IANS.

Following the fire, the guard stopped the train and shifted the passengers of the B-6 and B-7 coaches to other coaches. The train then reached Gwalior, he said.

The train was on its way from Vishakapatnam to Hazrat Nizamuddin, the official said. An inquiry has been ordered into the accident.
