Hyderabad: The ever busy Khairatabad junction in city came to a stand-still when the home guards sat in protest. The heavy traffic of the morning hours went haywire with the protest stretching for more than three hours. Vehicles coming from all directions including from Lakdi-ka-pul, Raj Bhavan, Punjagutta and from Imax Circle ended up stranded for more than an hour on a hot summer morning. People were seen struggling to navigate through the traffic and reach their offices.

Meanwhile a home guard climbed up a massive hoarding near the flyover demanding a solution to his long-pending problems. The traffic junction witnessed high drama for more than two hours this morning. The home guard who climbed up the hoarding has been identified as Gurram Goud. He is one among the 400 home guards who have been sacked from their jobs.

The home guards were protesting against the government and demanding reinstatement. Goud said that he would jump off the hoarding if their demands were not accepted. In support of Goud's protest, around 250 more home guards came to the place and sat in protest at Khairatabad Flyover demanding their reinstatement.

As a result, the police had to cordon off the whole area between Khairatabad and Necklace Road. Due to this, the area witnessed heavy traffic jam and commuters faced untold hardships for several hours.
