Osmania Hospital Ward Boy Held For Raping Patient

Hyderabad: A ward attendant of the government run Osmania Hospital was arrested on Saturday for allegedly raping a woman in the hospital corridor.

The accused, identified as Nagaraju, is believed to have sexually assaulted the woman who visited the hospital on the night of May 2. The incident came to light yesterday with the arrest of the accused after the victim lodged a complaint with the police. The woman was also sent to the government hospital for treatment.

It was a horrific night for the woman as she had gone to the hospital to get her injuries treated after her husband thrashed her black and blue, said a police officer. According to him, when the woman was waiting at the hall after consulting the doctor, the ward boy approached her and asked the woman to sit in the first floor corridor as there was a huge crowd in the waiting hall. Nagaraju took her to a secluded place in the first floor and raped her. He also threatened to kill her if she revealed the matter to anybody.

The police took the accused into the custody under the POSCO act and sent him for remand.
