Man Posts Morphed Modi Pictures on Facebook, Arrested

Chennai: A 23-year-old man was arrested for sharing morphed pictures of prime minister Narendra Modi on social media. The pictures which demeaned the prime minister were also removed from the giant social media site Facebook.

The man, identified as M Prabhakaran, from Salem district of Tamil Nadu shared a semi-nude morphed picture of Modi on his Facebook account asking his friends to suggest a caption for it. "The picture could have been shared on the social media targetting the Modi government on the Cauvery issue," a police officer said. He also said that the man did not morph the photo but shared it from a source, which is also an offence.

"Not only this picture but we found several other pictures degrading the PM on his Facebook timeline When we went through the man's Facebook page," the officer added.

The police arrested the man based on a complaint received from the BJP Tirupur north unit chief R Chinnasamy. Prabhakaran works as a machine operator in a private knitwear unit at Veerapandi.
