Man Kills Mother For Property in SR Nagar

In a sordid tale, a 55-year-old woman was allegedly thrashed to death by her younger son in SR Nagar on Wednesday.

G. Bhagyamma, a native of Guntakal in Anantapur district lost her husband, a retired railway officer a few weeks ago. She has three sons and a daughter. Days after her father's death, Bhagyamma's sons Suresh, Kiran and Vijay started forcing her to divide the property for which she did not agree.

Enraged over the issue, the three sons snatched the property papers and the bank passbooks from their mother a week ago. Bhagyamma's elder son Suresh thrashed her after she refused to his request to withdraw money from the bank.

Fed up with her children's torture, Bhagyamma went to her sister's home at Dasaram Basti in Balkampet without informing their sons. On learning their mother had gone missing, Vijay found out from his relatives about Bhagyamma's visit to Hyderabad. He soon arrived at his aunt's home on Wednesday morning and got into an argument with his mother.

In a fit of rage, Suresh hit his mother with a pestle and later strangled her. After confirming his mother's death, Suresh fled the spot.

Locals alerted the police, who registered a case and sent the body for post-mortem.
