Hyderabad: Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao is firm on making all the proposed districts functional by October 11, the Dasara day. At a review meeting with the district collectors on Tuesday, he asked the officials to begin administrative work in all the new districts by Dasara. He directed the collectors to divide the staff on the basis of the weightage of administrative work in the to-be-formed districts.

He said that Revenue and Police departments should start functioning from the Day One and the other departments will follow after they take up recruitments and staff adjustments. District collectors should carry out the entire procedure without any technical problems.

The Telangana Government had already released the draft notification of re-organisation of districts, revenue divisions and mandals (tehsils) on August 22 under the provisions of Andhra Pradesh Districts Reorganisation Act, 1974 for administrative convenience. The draft regarding this had been put under the public domain for one month.

Meanwhile, Congress leaders Ponnala Laxmaiah and DK Aruna have been demanding Janagaon and Gadwal as new districts. TPCC chief Uttam Kumar Reddy demanded that the draft notification on district re-organisation should be reissued after Janagaon and Gadwal are included in the list.
