Nellore ZP chairperson election postponed

ZP chairperson election of Nellore district was postponed for second time on Sunday.

District Collector N.Srikanth declared they had postponed the election as there was no quorum and he immediately left the hall. However, he did not inform the date at which the election would be conducted.

There are 46 ZPTCs in Nellore district. Of them, YSRCP got 31 seats and the ruling TDP won 15 seats.

Immediately after the election was started, the officials asked the members of various parties to sit separately.

But, the situation became tense once the TDP members demanded that some YSRCP members, who are supporting them, must sit besides them.

The officials tried to send the agitating members out of the hall forcibly.

ZPTCs of TDP came to the hall. But, they did not sign on the register. Similarly, YSRCP ZPTC of Kavali Penchalamma also rejected to sign.

With this, the collector declared the postponement of the election due to lack of quorum.
