Hyderabad: Tollywood actor Pallapollu Navdeep on Monday appeared before a special investigation team (SIT) of the Excise and Enforcement which is investigating the case involving a high-end drugs racket, which was busted here earlier this month. He is the fifth person to be questioned in the case. The interrogation is expected to continue till late evening and this is going to be the most crucial one as the actor is directly involved with pubs and he himself owned a pub.

Navadeep, who acted only in a few movies despite his good looks and performance, is known for his association with pubs and he himself is the owner of Beats Per Minute (BPM), a pub located near Financial district in Gachibowli.

Navdeep was in news for wrong reasons in the past. While the actor was caught in drunken driving couple of times, he was also allegedly involved in a drunken brawl earlier. Recently it was reported that cops had raided his farmhouse at Chakrampalem, Ranga Reddy district. However, Navdeep took on media and even clarified that he doesn't have any farmhouse and he had attended a house-warming party.

There were also rumors earlier that drugs were being sold at his pub. Importantly, the kingpin in the drugs racket Calvin Mascerenhas was a member of a rock band at BPM, the pub owned by the actor. It is believed that Calvin operated from the pub.

Navadeep In Brawl Case

A case was filed against actor Navdeep after he allegedly thrashed an engineering student in an inebriated condition some time back. According to the police report, the student allegedly misbehaved with Navdeep’s lady friend at a pub, when he wasn’t around. While driving back home, the lady spotted the students at a showroom in Madhapur and that’s when Navdeep reportedly beat up one of them. Navdeep and the student lodged complaints against each other. Police registered cases against Navdeep under Section 341 (punishment for wrongful restraint) and 506 (criminal intimidation).

Navadeep is among the 12 Tollywood personalities summoned for questioning in connection with the case. The SIT had issued notices to all of them under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act after the racket, involved in supplying high-end drugs such as LSD and MDMA in and around Hyderabad, was busted on July 2.
